Bye California! Hi Oregon!

Since I haven’t blogged in forever, I’ll catch you up to speed as best I can. Brevity. That’s the goal here. It’s not a strong suit of mine, though. So there’s that.

Let’s see…I’m in Oregon. Oregon! It took me three and a half long months but I finally made it out of California and into the promised land. And in true Oregon fashion, the skies opened up and pissed rain all over me the day I arrived.

But Northern California was hot. Brutally hot. 110 degrees on the worst day, along an exposed, 30-some-odd mile waterless stretch of trail called Hat Creek Rim. The Rim Job, as I affectionately called it. Northern California also provided rogue afternoon thunderstorms, massive rattlesnakes, climbs that went on forever, late-night mountain lion sightings, insanely gorgeous views of alpine lakes and marble mountains, prolonged periods of boredom and trying to find new ways to entertain myself while hiking. There was also a night of violent vomiting at the RV park in Seiad Valley. So that was fun.

I’m in Ashland right now, catching up on rest and resupplying for the next stretch of trail. My goals for Oregon are big miles (at least one 40 mile day) and more blogging.

And just like that, I’ve got you all caught up!

Here are some pictures from the past few weeks…
